Woman charged over suspected drug death in Brunswick East

A woman is set to face court on manslaughter charges over the suspected drug death of a man in Melbourne’s inner north.

A woman has been charged with manslaughter over the suspected drug death of a man in Brunswick East.

The 43-year-old Niddrie woman was arrested on Tuesday over the death of a Brunswick East man on January 23.

A Victoria Police statement said emergency services were called to an Edward St property at 3.30am that day.

“A man was located deceased following what is believed to have been an adverse reaction to a drug of dependence,” the statement said

Police said the dead man and the Niddrie woman were believed to be known to each other.

She is due to appear in Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.
