A woman has been charged with manslaughter nearly nine months after the suspected drug death of a man in Brunswick East.
Kathryn Telenta, 43, from Niddrie, was arrested on Tuesday over the death of Tony Dagher, 51, from Brunswick East on January 23.
Victoria Police said emergency services were called to an Edward St property at 3.30am that day, where Mr Dagher was found dead after a suspected adverse reaction to a drug of dependence.
Ms Telenta appeared in Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday afternoon charged with manslaughter.
No details about Mr Dagher’s death were revealed but a prosecutor said it was a “unique set of circumstances”.
Prosecutors did not oppose bail and Ms Telenta was released on the condition she report to police three times a week, stay in Victoria and not use or administer drugs.
Charge sheets released by the court allege Ms Telenta negligently killed Mr Dagher.
Police said the pair was known to each other.
Wearing a black top, Ms Telenta sat silently in the dock during the brief proceeding.
She will return to court in January.
