A Palmwoods man has been charged over an alleged armed robbery crime spree across the Fraser and Sunshine Coasts in which he is accused of stealing two cars before fleeing police down the Bruce Highway.
Police alleged in a statement Wednesday the 32 year-old first approached another man with a “bladed weapon” outside a business on Alice St in Maryborough about 9pm on Saturday, July 12.
He allegedly demanded keys to a Toyota HiLux, and stole the vehicle.
The same night at 11pm he man allegedly entered a home on Maroochy Circuit at Yandina, threatening residents with a “bladed weapon” and demanding keys to a Volkswagen Golf at the property.
Police alleged he stole the Volkswagen and drove it south on the Bruce Highway.
Polair tracked the vehicle which was allegedly driving dangerously on highway headed south towards Caboolture, through Burpengary and Deception Bay.
He was finally arrested by specialist officers at a property on Palmwoods School Rd in Palmwoods at 11.30pm on Sunday, July 13.
Police allegedly found the first stolen car, the Toyota HiLux, dumped at the Yandina property where the man was accused of stealing the Golf.
The Golf was found where he was where he was arrested and both vehicles have been seized by police.
The man has been charged with one count each of armed robbery, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and dangerous operation of a vehicle.
He was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Maroochydore Magistrates Court on September 8.
