A sex worker has been sent to prison after luring a client who hadn’t paid her to a house where her co-accused was waiting with a knife.

Breaking the ice: Meth use in SA

A sex worker wants to turn her life around and get off the drugs after she bashed and robbed a client who owed her money.

Amber Kathleen Fisher, 43, will shortly be eligible for parole after she took the law into her own hands to recoup what she was owed.

During sentencing, the District Court heard the victim attended at a Fulham property in July 2022 to meet Fisher.

“Upon entry the victim observed the co-accused holding a large knife,” Judge Jane Schammer said.

The court heard Fisher’s co-accused asked the victim for $500 or $700 and was punched in the mouth three times when he said he didn’t have it.

Fisher’s co-accused also stole the victim’s Apple iPhone and when he tried to get it back, he held the knife to him and said sit down or he’d be killed.

After seeing the victim had no money in his wallet, Fisher and her co-accused drove him around to a number of ATMs so he could get money out but he was unable to do so.

The court heard Fisher’s co-accused then took the victim’s watch and told him he’d get it back when he gave them the money.

Fisher was arrested and told police she had previously provided the victim with services, which she referred to as massage work.

The Fulham Gardens mother pleaded guilty to assault causing harm and robbery.

Tim Mcgrath, for Fisher, previously told the court his client was a sex worker and had provided sexual services to the victim who paid her $700 via Pay ID.

“He has feigned payment of that amount and it effectively bounced,” he said.

The court heard Fisher was the victim of a horrific crime when she was abducted while pregnant at 18 and turned to drugs as a result.

Fisher then found out her abductor had been released after 10 years and was living in the same town as her and returned to drugs after being drug free for a short period.

The court heard Fisher killed a motorist in a crash in 2016 while she was under the influence of drugs and was jailed after pleading guilty to causing death by negligent driving.

“You turned to sex work to survive,” Judge Schammer said.

The court heard Fisher had no desire to return to sex work once released from jail and had been rehabilitating from drugs while in prison.

Judge Schammer sentenced Fisher to one year and six months jail, with a non-parole period of seven months.

The sentence was backdated to September 8.
