Fugazzi Bar and Dining Room is set to reopen tonight after after a fire ripped through the building right before the Gather Round dinner rush on Saturday.
The fire started in the kitchen around 4:30pm with flames spreading to the roof by the time firefighters arrived.
The damage is estimated at $200,000 with significant water damage caused by the building’s sprinkler system.
But a spokeswoman for Fugazzi said the restaurant is “most likely” to open for dinner service on Sunday night.
On Sunday morning, staff were working to dry carpets and a temporary ceiling was being installed.
“A lot of people were expecting it to be closed for a bit longer,” the spokeswoman said.
“We’re all hands on deck at the moment as it’s a very busy weekend with Gather Round.”
Despite the fire and sprinkler damage, the furniture at the restaurant remained unharmed.
Leigh St was temporarily blocked off while fire crews battled the blaze.
The Fugazzi fire is the second major blaze to occur this week following a Meadows repairshop fire which caused more than $500,000 damage on Thursday.
Since opening in 2021, Fugazzi has become one of Adelaide’s most popular dining institutions, attracting some of the world’s biggest celebrities.
In recent years, its served the likes of Hollywood icon Henry Winkler, Beatles legend Paul McCartney and singer Sam Smith.
