Hollywood icon Henry Winkler made his mark – literally – on Adelaide during a brief visit on Wednesday.
Best known as The Fonz in TV sitcom Happy Days, Winkler was spotted dining at popular CBD restaurant Fugazzi Bar and Dining Room.
A keen fan took a snap of the veteran actor, 78, as he left the Leigh St venue, co-owned by MasterChef’s Laura Sharrad and husband Max.
Laura also shared a photo with Winkler and described him as a “delightful customer and very down to earth”.
“He was, as they say he is, ‘the loveliest man in Hollywood’. Very generous with a time,” she said.
“He spoke of all things travelling Australia, fishing and his favourite (Kansas City) Chiefs hopefully winning the Super Bowl.”
In town for the next leg of his ‘Live on Stage – The Fonz and Beyond’ Australian Tour, at Her Majesty’s Theatre on Wednesday night, the veteran actor was also invited to sign the venue’s iconic signature wall.
Winkler wrote on the wall ‘Happy to be here’.
Winkler later shared his love for Fugazzi with his more than one million followers on X.
“FOOD TIP: Adelaide, Australia: FUGAZZI .. everything was fantastic !!” he wrote.
Earlier in the tour, he also posted about visiting Sydney restaurant Ragazzi.
Fugazzi is one of Adelaide’s most popular dining institutions and has attracted some of the world’s biggest celebrities.
In recent months, it’s served the likes of Beatles legend Paul McCartney, crooner Michael Buble and singer Sam Smith.
Other big names to drop by include Nigella Lawson, Jimmy Barnes, Cate Blanchett, Guns N’ Roses frontman Axl Rose and US rockers The Killers.
