$15m restaurant, luxury accommodation at Hindmarsh Valley proposed

It’ll have a 90-seat restaurant and lavish accommodation units – check out the new plans for a luxury retreat north of Victor Harbor.

A $15m eco-retreat including new restaurant would be built near Mount Jagged on the state’s Fleurieu Peninsula offering luxury accommodation under new plans.

Boasting accommodation for more than 30, a 90-seat restaurant and wellness facilities, Hindmarsh Tiers Retreat, about 18 minutes drive north of Victor Harbor, aims to help guests find “solace from the hustle and bustle”.

Documents lodged to the local council propose the tourist accommodation at Nettle Hill Rd, Hindmarsh Valley, about 55km south of Adelaide.

If approved, the sprawling development would boast 16 tourist accommodation pods – 15 one-bedroom pods and one two-bedroom pod – that could host up to 34 guests.

The two-area restaurant would have capacity to seat 94 people, opening every day for guests and Friday to Sunday for public bookings – with one third of seats reserved for guests.

Exclusively for guests, health and wellness facilities would include spa treatments, alternative therapies and holistic treatments and swimming pool.

The proposed tourist accommodation and restaurant is hoping to showcase the region’s agricultural products by offering fresh food, olive oil, honey, and locally-made goods.

It will also offer visitors immersive experiences such as garden tours, cooking classes, greenhouse lunch experiences and beekeeping and pruning lessons at the orchards.

The 19.8ha of land for the proposed eco-retreat will continue to be used to graze livestock should the project is approved.

Public consultation closes on June 30.
