Westminster School has lodged plans to Marion Council to expand the Thomas Pavilion, a two-storey multipurpose sports facility that officially opened five years ago.
If approved, the Marion school would add a second gym that directly connects to its current gym and an office/teacher preparation space on the ground floor.
The first floor would boast two learning spaces, a store room to support the learning areas and a new bridge that connects to the existing sports building.
Westminster School principal Simon Shepherd said the “exciting development” was part of their commitment to give students an “exceptional learning and co-curricular environment”.
“The project will further support Westminster’s vision of delivering an adventurous education for all students, offering opportunities to grow, lead and connect through academic pursuits, sport, activities and community life,” Mr Shepherd said.
“We look forward to sharing more information with our community as the project progresses.”
Three trees would be cut down and the car park revamped under the plans.
Public consultation closes on July 9.
