Lismore police pursuit: Bodee Michael Caruana, 32 remains in custody while co-accused Hanna Thomas, 24 granted bail
A man remains locked up and a woman has been released on bail following an alleged police pursuit through a Northern NSW paddock which resulted in the death of a dog.

A man remains behind bars and a woman has been released on bail following an alleged police pursuit through a Northern New South Wales paddock which resulted in the death of a dog.
Bodee Michael Caruana, 32, appeared before Magistrate Michael Dakin via audiovisual link from custody in Lismore Local Court on Tuesday.
He remains in custody on remand after pleading not guilty to licence expired more than two years ago, drive with one passenger seatbelt/restraint not properly fastened, hinder or resist police officer in the execution of duty, using a motor vehicle with unauthorised number plate affixed, and goods in personal custody suspected being stolen.
Caruana was also charged with three counts of drive motor vehicle during disqualification period - second offence - and take part cultivate cannabis indictable quantity, plus four counts of failing to appear in accordance with bail acknowledgment, break and enter house and steal under $60,000, and having goods in his custody suspected of being stolen (not motor vehicle).
Caruana pleaded guilty to three of the four counts of failing to appear in accordance with bail conditions and did not enter pleas to any other charges.
Bail was refused as he did not apply for it.
Police allege on Monday officers observed a Ford Territory SUV on Terania St, North Lismore before Caruana and co-accused Hanna Thomas, 24, swapped seats and failed to produce ID.
Caruana allegedly resisted police’s attempts to arrest him and the pair is accused of fleeing, prompting a police pursuit.
Additional police aided in the search after locating the Ford, which was found abandoned at Bentley.
Police allege the couple were found hiding in a paddock along with dogs, one of which was killed by police.
Thomas was charged with police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously, driver’s licence expired more than two years ago, unlawfully possessing number plates, using a motor vehicle with unauthorised number plate affixed, drive with one passenger seatbelt/restraint not properly fastened and goods in personal custody suspected being stolen.
In the same court on Tuesday, Thomas was granted strict conditional bail.
Bail conditions stipulate she must remain in the state and report to police daily, along with abstaining from alcohol and drugs.
Mr Dakin forbade any communication between the pair, except via lawyers, and banned Thomas from driving and/or riding a motorcycle.
Thomas is scheduled to reappear before the same court on February 10.
Caruana is due to reappear before the same court on March 17.
