A man has been found dead after his vehicle struck a tree and a member of the public later stumbled on the crash site in northern NSW. Here’s what we know.

A man has been found dead by emergency services after his vehicle struck a tree and a member of the public later stumbled on the crash site in northern NSW.

Emergency services were called to Reardons Lane at Swan Bay, about 20km west of Evans Head and 40km south of Lismore, about 5am on Friday.

Police said in a statement that “a member of the public reported a vehicle into a tree”.

The driver of the vehicle, a 57-year-old man, was found dead at the scene.

Richmond Police District set up a crime scene that was examined by specialist police.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
