Lismore: Jayden Davis charged with reckless wounding after alleged unprovoked stabbing of man on Molesworth St

A 28-year-old man allegedly stabbed a 37-year-old man on a street in the CBD of a Northern Rivers city in what police have alleged was an “unprovoked attack”.

A Northern Rivers man allegedly stabbed another man in what police allege was an unprovoked attack in the state’s north on Thursday.

Jayden Davis, 28, appeared via audiovisual link in the Bail Division Court before magistrate Susan Horan on Friday on a charge of reckless wounding.

He has not been required to enter any pleas..

Police said emergency services responded to reports on Thursday of a stabbing in the Lismore central business district about 1.20pm.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated a 37-year-old man on Molesworth Street for a stab wound.

Jayden Davis has been charged with reckless wounding after an alleged stabbing in Lismore.

He was taken to Lismore Base Hospital in a stable condition suffering a single stab wound to the right shoulder.

Police said Richmond Police District officers identified and arrested a 28-year-old man on Molesworth St without incident.

He was then taken to Lismore police station where he was charged.

Officers also recovered a knife at the time of the arrest.

“Police will allege that the stabbing occurred in Woodlark Street near the intersection of Keen Street,” police said in a statement.

“It will be further alleged that the men are not known to one another, and the incident appears to be unprovoked.”

Davis made no application for bail and he was formally remanded into custody by Ms Horan.

He is due to appear in Lismore Local Court on July 28.
