“We were actually flawed by being mentioned (in the top 100). I seriously can’t believe that (we won). I’m really, really humbled by it. It’s really heartwarming,” said Francis Chung, who owns the business with his wife Lisa and brother-in-law Tony Pham.

Mr Chung said it was a shock achievement for a business that started as a market stall in Brisbane’s north in 2014, before transforming into the first bricks-and-mortar store in 2019 and the second in 2021 when the trio left their corporate jobs to follow their passion.

“It’s just really humbling and heart felt to have that sort of support and to think that people appreciate what we’re doing,” he said.

Between the two stores, the family serves about 3000 banh mi each week, with the secret to their renowned rolls, making everything in house.

“Everything is made from scratch – the marinated meat, the pate and mayo, we even pickle our own carrots, so we put a lot of love and labour into it,” Mr Chung said.
