A 76-year-old motorcyclist riding a Triumph Tiger has died after a horror crash on a rural Noosa road.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said more than five crews were called to Louis Bazzo Dr in Cootharaba just after midday on Monday after a crash between a car and motorbike.

The motorcyclist had suffered life-threatening head injuries.

Police said a white Mitsubishi Magna travelling north on McKinnon Drive and the white Triumph Tiger motorcycle travelling south collided.

The 76-year-old Glass House Mountains man, died at the scene.

The driver of the Mitsubishi, a 59-year-old Cooroibah woman, was taken to Sunshine Coast University Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
