Meriton’s Founder and Managing Director Harry Triguboff talks to Sky News

ONE of Australia’s richest men has unveiled the Gold Coast’s first “super penthouses”, which will sit 251m above ground and look down on the Q1.

Meriton boss “high-rise” Harry Triguboff has launched an international expression of interest campaign for the giant 800 sqm and 1000 sqm units of his 76-storey Ocean supertower which will be the highest in the city, beating out Soul’s penthouse which sold in May for $15.25m.

The two ultra luxury units will join eight regular penthouses on the market, with residents set to move in by early to mid 2022.

‘IT’S INCREDIBLE’: COAST’S MASSIVE DEVELOPMENT BOOM

Mr Triguboff said the Gold Coast market was on fire, while the Sydney and Melbourne markets were “sleeping”.

He said the new luxury units were being released as a buyer appetite for larger apartments had clearly emerged.

“We have buyers combining apartments and they are not necessarily on higher floors,” he said.

“They also have the chance, because building a super-tower takes a long time, to customise their apartments during the construction phase.

“The lengthy building time also means prices are rising as the tower is rising.”

Meriton national sales director James Sialepis said no expense would be spared for the units.

“The super-penthouses will be the highest apartments on the Gold Coast and Meriton intends to deliver interiors that match the views,” he said.

“They are coming on to the market at a time when expensive apartments across Australia are selling well against a backdrop of historically low interest rates and a shift in demand from high end luxury purchasers preferencing unique homes in the sky.”

Work was this week completed on level 62 of the tower, a week after the Meriton Suites hotel within the first 33 levels opened.
