Video of thieves stealing luxury car from couple in Palm Beach, Gold Coast

It was a terrible start to Good Friday for one Gold Coast couple who had their brand new car stolen while one recovered from surgery in hospital. Watch the video

A brand new luxury car stolen over the weekend has been found undamaged about 24 hours after it was taken.
Police however are yet to find the thieves who took the grey 2020 Alfa Romeo Giulia Velcoe from the Japonica Dr, Palm Beach home about 3.30am on Friday.

The car was found about 1am on Saturday morning in Currumbin Waters.

Two teenagers were assisting police with inquiries and investigations are ongoing.

The theft – which was captured on home security – took place while one of the luxury car’s owners was recovering in hospital from surgery.

Amelia Luker said a group of men stole the silver car while she was home alone with her husband recovering from knee surgery in hospital.

“I woke up to a loud noise at 3am. I heard a car drive off,” she said.

“My husband was in hospital so I thought I was just being paranoid.

“Five minutes later, I decided to go check it out just in case.”

CCTV captured three people in hoodies scoping out the home before they were spooked by an alarm.

The trio then jumped in the car and drove off.

Mrs Luker said the men used a screwdriver and crowbar to break into the house and steal the car key.

The shocked Palm Beach woman said they only bought the car a couple of weeks ago.

“I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed and disappointed,” Mrs Luker said.

Anyone with information that could help with the investigation have been urged to contact police.
