A former Gold Coaster starring in popular Binge TV show Colin from Accounts says he feels lucky to be part of “a piece of magic”.

Tai Hara, an alumnus from The Southport School, will reprise his role as James in the hit romantic comedy’s return for a second season from this coming Thursday.

He adds he wishes he could “pinch” his teenage self to say “enjoy the ride”.

Hara said the entire cast was “buzzing” for the release and fans could expect “fun interactions between James and Gordon”.

Hara said the success of Colin From Accounts was a “testament” to the writers and lead actors Harriet Dyer and Patrick Brammall.

“Colin is really something that Pat and Harry exploded into the world. It’s a piece of magic they have shared with everyone and we were lucky enough to be a part of it,” he said.

“Some sets are more fun than others and I have to say by far this is the best set and will probably be the best set I’ve ever been on.”

Hara said as soon as the show was released in 2022 the entire cast had “hope” for second season.

“But you never quite know. There’s been so many great shows over the years that don’t go on again.

“(Season two) felt like it was a natural progression and hopefully there will be some more,” he said.

Hara – who has previously starred in Underbelly: Vanishing Act, Hyde & Seek and Home and Away – said he found playing his role as James refreshing.

“My roles in the past are very different to James,” he said.

“That’s what is so beautiful to be able to completely step out of those shoes into a new character. That’s what every actor dreams of.”

He said he had enjoyed filming the series across Sydney but hoped to make his way back to the Gold Coast.

“I would love to work on the Gold Coast,” he said.

“It is one of the most beautiful places in the world, best childhood and so many beautiful friends and family there.

“If the right projects or opportunities came up, I would be there in a heart beat.”

Hara said attending TSS was a “pivotal time” in his life.

“If I was speaking to teenage Tai at TSS, I would say enjoy the ride,” he said.

“You can dream all the things you want to do but until you start to live them out, it’s a whole different experience.”

Hara said he was filming a spin-off series to BBC’s Death in Paradise, called Return to Paradise.

“To any Death in Paradise fans, I think this is going to be really exciting.”

The release date for Return to Paradise – speculated to be in 2024 – was not yet confirmed.
