FAST-expanding over-50s resort developer GTH Resorts is to invest close to $9m in a national headquarters at Nerang.

The company, a joint venture between the Gold Coast’s Puljich family and the Thakrals from Singapore, has spent $3.78m on a four-title holding at 2-6 Nerang St.

The developer of GemLife resorts is planning a $5m, single-level 1119sq m office building on the 5606sq m site, which backs on to the Nerang River.

GemLife CEO Adrian Puljich yesterday said a lot of the business’s staff lived on the Gold Coast.

“We’re operating from a base at Stapleton and the M1 is becoming more difficult for them to negotiate.

“The new base, which we hope to have completed before Christmas 2022, will be more convenient for our staff.”

GTH Resorts has developed 10 projects in Queensland, NSW and Victoria.

Mr Puljich said it had a pipeline of 16 further projects, including a flagship one at Pimpama, one at Tweed Heads, and another, subject to approvals, at Currumbin.

“Ultimately we hope to open a satellite office at Tweed Heads.”

GTH Resorts was set up in 2015 to target the baby boomer market with gated resort-style retirement villages.

The Puljich family, headed by Surfers Paradise-based patriarch Peter Puljich, entered the home-park business in the early ’80s and went on to build the Living Gems brand of over-50s lifestyle resorts.

The Thakrals are previous owners, via the then-listed Thakral group, of The Glades golf course at Robina and the Oasis shopping centre at Broadbeach.
