Missing frenchie owner pleads for dog’s safe return

High-profile Gold Coast real estate agent Conner Malan has paid it forward after his beloved prized pooch Herbert was found after pulling a doggie disappearing act on Monday.

Malan was “devastated” after the dog went missing at Robina on Monday around 8pm, but was “elated” when Herbert was safely returned home on Tuesday afternoon.

Malan took to social media to find the dog, offering up the $5000 reward for his return.

He said it was a “whirlwind, sleepless 24 hours” that had left him and wife Elly “thrilled but drained”.

“The support from not only our friends but the wider community was incredible”, Ms Malan said.

“It makes you feel pretty warm and fuzzy,” Mr Malan said.

Herbert Schulz, the finder of the pet, said he looked out his window in Robina on Tuesday afternoon and saw the dog running down the street after seeing a post on a Robina Facebook group earlier in the day.

Regarding the reward, Mr Schulz said he “would have returned the pet in any case” because “having a dog is like having a child”.

Crazy twist after $5k reward offered for missing frenchie

August 2: A Gold Coast real estate agent who was “devastated” about losing his beloved French bulldog has had a happy ending - after offering a $5000 reward.

And despite fearing the worst, Coast property sales figure Conner Malan’s pet pooch called Herbert has been found - coincidentally - by someone who shares that name.

Herbert slipped out of a gate while it was being opened about 8pm Monday and was last seen running on Cottesloe Dr, heading towards Robina Pavilion.

Mr Malan said 20 people had been out looking for the two-year-old frenchie since then.

The family had pleaded for Herbert’s safe return, offering a $5000 reward.

About 4pm Tuesday, an “elated” Mr Malan told the Bulletin his dog had returned safe and sound after a man named Herbert found him walking around in Robina.

“He’s happy and a bit dehydrated,” the relieved Coast realtor said.

“He ended up only 400m from the house.

“I think he tried to make his way back.”

In Australia, frenchies can cost between $3500 to $4500 but can be priced higher depending on their colour.

In 2018, the search for missing French Bulldog, Theo, came to a tragic end after he was found dead.

The Gold Coast frenchie caught attention from social media influencers around the world as they shared pictures of the much-loved animal when it went missing.
