Police searching for Pacific Motorway crash pile-up witnesses

Police are appealing for witnesses after a five-vehicle crash on a major highway on Brisbane’s south left a man still fighting for his life.

Police are appealing for witnesses after a five-vehicle crash on a major highway on Brisbane’s south earlier in the week left a man fighting for his life.

Investigations from the Forensic Crash Unit are continuing after the crash on the Pacific Motorway, near the Gateway Motorway off-ramp, around 6.30am on April 3.

Police believe the crash happened when a truck was travelling north on the motorway when it struck the back of a blue 2013 Mazda 2.

The Mazda has then hit a Honda Civic, which has hit a Lexus IS250, which then crashed into a Hino 500 series truck.

Five vehicles were damaged in the crash.

The driver of the Mazda 2, a 27-year-old Helensvale man, was taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.

The truck driver was also taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital with minor injuries.

The crash caused delays of up to 40 minutes on the highway.

Motorists were advised to avoid the area at the time with the Forensic Crash Unit tasked to the scene.

Four people were taken to hospital following the serious crash and the other three people involved were stable.

Anyone who witnessed the crash or has relevant dashcam footage should contact police.
