KIM Sills and Randall Osborne had planned to secretly elope on Saturday amid COVID-19 but when restrictions eased their plans changed immediately.
When the Yarrabilba couple heard weddings were going to be opened to a maximum of 100 people from noon Friday, they ditched their intimate nuptials for a micro white wedding at the
Gold Coast’s Tallebudgera Valley private estate.
The Osbornes are one of the first couples in Queensland during COVID-19 to have a reception, which included dinner, drinks, a fire pit and but no dancing.
Bride Kim Sills, a childcare worker, said it was the “best news ever” after assuming her dream wedding was out of the question in 2020.
“We cancelled our wedding for November 2020 because some of our nearest and dearest couldn’t be there and we didn’t know what the future looked like,” she said.

“We then decided to elope and keep it under wraps until we married and then tell everyone at a later day.
“But when Annastacia Palaszczuk told us on Tuesday we could have 100 (people) by July 4, the same day as our planned elopement, we were desperate for our family and friends to join.”
The duo, aged 29, said they had been “inseparable” since meeting on a dating site in 2018 and wanted their wedding to be a “huge surprise for all”.
They sent out invitations on Wednesday, the day after the announcement, to 40 guests telling them to wear blue and meet at a bus on Saturday.
“We wanted to disguise the event as our four-month-year old naming day so no one had an idea it was a wedding,” she said.
“Everyone was shocked and there was a lot of tears.”

Randall Osborne, a truck driver, said their four sons Blake, 10, Izac, 8, Lincoln, 4 and Ziek, 4 months had the “perfect day”.
“Blake walked his mum Kim down the aisle with her dad and Blake cried,” he said.
“It was a really special day for everyone.”
Gold Coast Pop Wedding co-ordinator Bree Nicholls said the new wedding restrictions, including receptions without dancefloors or self-serve buffets, were hard but not deterrent for couples.
“Since COVID-19, we have been inundated with inquiries for smaller weddings and elopements due to the fact couples can’t have all their family and friends,” she said.
“People have been loving less stress and expenses.”
