A Gold Coast fashionista says winter is unlike anywhere else in Australia — and so is the fashion. Here’s an ultimate guide to the top trends this season.

GOLD Coast fashionista Bec Purcell says winter is unlike anywhere else in Australia — and so is the fashion.

“You don’t have to worry about heavy coats and jackets, it’s the best,” she said.

“You can really use layering and colour and make an outfit your own style.”

Ms Purcell, a stylist at Pacific Fair, said cord had made a massive comeback on the Gold Coast.

“From coloured retro jackets and pants to mini skirts, you will see this trend everywhere,” she said.

“You will also see a lot of leather, suede, big blazers, wide leg pants and double breasted jackets.”

Colours on trends include amethyst, sapphire, emerald and citrine.

Ms Purcell said some “must-haves” for a Gold Coast wardrobe are an oversized blazer, chunky utility boots.

“A corduroy mini skirt is also perfect for the Gold Coast winter,” she said.

“Simply, pair this back with a turtle neck, stockings and boots for the ultimate 70s look.”

At most city retailers, like Myer and David Jones, there are COVID restrictions with change rooms and intimate apparel, suit and shoe fittings have been suspended.

Ms Purcell said hacks to make shopping easier include knowing your body measurements and checking online brand size guides, and measuring shirts against your back before buying.
