A SMALL tan bear decked out in a leather biker jacket and black bandana will be the most important passenger on a trip from Helensvale, out to Beaudesert and then back to Parkwood.

The bear looks like an ordinary teddy bear but there is something special about him.

The soft toy contains the ashes of 17-year-old Jack Beasley who was stabbed to death in Surfers Paradise in December 2019.

The teddy will be on the back of a bike ridden by Jack’s parents – Brett and Belinda Beasley – during the third annual charity ride on June 26.

It starts with a barbecue breakfast at 8am at Jack’s former rugby league ground at the Helensvale Hornets.

A police escort will help riders reach Beaudesert where the group will stop for a break at the hotel.

The charity run will then head back to Parkwood International Golf Club for lunch and a cold beer.

The ride is raising money for the Jack Beasley Foundation, which aims to educate youth about the dangers of carrying a knife.

“The funds raised will allow us to do our school presentations (on the danger of carrying a knife),” Mr Beasley said.

Last year the ride attracted more than 200 riders, he said.

This year it will have special significance.

At the end of last month three teens accused of manslaughter faced trial.

Justice Soraya Ryan said at the time she would need at least a month to determine her verdict. June 25 marks one month since the trial ended.

“This particular weekend is going to be close to the verdict coming back and we are hoping to get as much support as we can,” Mr Beasley said.

The cost of the ride is $20 and includes a passenger.

Tickets can be purchased on the day or online at jackbeasleyfoundation.org.

Breakfast and coffee will be available for sale before the ride and lunch to purchase upon return.
