A SPRAWLING $14m Sovereign Islands mansion, a $12.8m Hope Island estate and a $9m home on Hedges Ave are among a staggering 480 million-dollar-plus transactions in a bumper month for Gold Coast luxury property.

The $14.15m buyer of mammoth Sovereign Island property Grand Vista, at 5 Sir Lancelot Pl, is Ian Paterson, a director of Melbourne-based aluminium trades supplier Dias Aluminium.

The giant home with six ensuite bedrooms, once owned by fallen developer John Fish, broke the Sovereign Islands record when the contract was signed in May.

It has 1890sq m of living space, a gym with steam room, a home office, a 3600-bottle, temperature-controlled wine cellar and a 25m lap pool.

Seller Zewei Wu had set the previous suburb record for the 2103sq m waterfront estate in 2018, when it was purchased for $11.05m.

Business appears to be booming for Australian Innovation Centre CEO Mark Winfield and wife Lynette, revealed as the $12.8m buyers of a 4031 sqm block of land at 1039 Edgecliff Dr Hope Island.

The exclusive Sanctuary Cove site, down the road from the couple’s home, has almost 130m of water frontage.

The seller was Gold Coast Cove, a company whose sole shareholder is Chinese resident Leng Gao. It was previously sold by Mulpha Sanctuary Cove Developments for $8.4m in 2015.

Also among the high-end settlements was the $9m purchase of 57 Hedges Avenue at Mermaid Beach, which achieved nearly double its last sale price.

The home has since been marketed for rent at $5000 per week.

Named among the Gold Coast’s Top 50 Homes in 2014, it has last sold for $4.7 million in 2013 by Phillippa Head, to Vanessa Tolhurst, wife of sleep specialist Sean Tolhurst.

Property records show the Tolhursts sold it for $9m to Eleni and Salvatore Vinaccia, co-owner of Charis Seafoods, who took possession on October 4.

Back on the Sovereign Islands, 17 Queen Anne Ct was sold by mechanical engineer and Gold Coast Suns board member Robert Charter to fitness influencers Mark Carroll and Lauren Simpson for $5.9m

Ms Simpson and Mr Carroll – a world bikini champion and fitness trainer – had previously made headlines in real estate circles for buying the former Sydney home of ex-NRL player Sam Burgess.
