57 Hedges Ave Mermaid Beach put up for rent by new owners, three weeks after they buy it

The newest owners of Gold Coast’s most prestigious street, Hedges Ave, have put their pricey beachfront pad straight onto the city’s rental market for a scorching price.

THE newest owners on Gold Coast’s most prestigious street have put their pricey beachfront pad straight onto the city’s rental market for a scorching price.

New Zealand ex-pats Eleni and Salvatore Vinaccia, co-owners of Labrador fish and chip staple Charis Seafoods, settled the purchase on October 4.

The Vinaccias, who also own a waterfront home at Bundall, settled on 57 Hedges Ave at Mermaid Beach for $9m, almost twice what the previous owner paid for it in 2013.

The four-bedroom, five-bathroom home on a 405 sqm block has now been listed for rent at $5000 per week.

At $250,000 a year, plus a $20,000 bond, the rent is more than four times the average Gold Coast annual wage of $63,000 per year.

Named among the Gold Coast’s Top 50 Homes in 2014, it was sold in 2013 by Phillippa Head, who then sold it for $4.7 million in 2015 to Vanessa Tolhurst, wife of sleep specialist Sean Tolhurst.

The partly-furnished home features an open-plan lounge, dining and kitchen that connect to the outdoor living area with breathtaking ocean views

The ocean views continue upstairs in the bedrooms, including the master which has a private balcony.

While renting the “ultimate beachfront luxury” home will be out of reach for many, it’s only the second most expensive rental currently available on the Gold Coast.

A five-ensuited-bedroom home at 3535 Main Beach Pde is asking $7000 per week – a whopping $364,000 a year.
