GROUND has broken on the Gold Coast’s newest beachfront tower as its developer moves to change its design.
Construction has begun on Brisbane-based developer Spyre Group’s $77 million, luxury 17-storey Natura project at Burleigh Heads.
REVEALED: GOLD COAST’S MOST CONTROVERSIAL DEVELOPMENTS
The project sits on a 1011 sqm beachfront parcel on The Esplanade and is replacing Mimi McPherson’s mid-level apartment building, which was recently demolished.
But even as work gets underway, changes are being made to the 33-unit’s design.
A revised development application has been filed with the council to alter the project based on “specialist architectural and buyer feedback”.

Detailed design of the tower following its February approval will see minor changes made
to the height of each floor level, resulting in the tower being smaller than originally anticipated.
This means the overall peak building height will fall from 60.35m to 59.67m.
Other minor design alterations have been made to the original proposal.
Spyre Group went to market on Natura in early March, selling more than 80 per cent of its units across a single weekend, leaving only eight to be occupied.
Natura is the latest in a wave of luxury unit developments aimed at downsizers to hit the market in the past two years.
Retirees and families are snapping up the modernised units, which now make up about 20 per cent of the off-the-plan market.
Broadbeach, Palm Beach and Burleigh Heads lead the way in sales, which have been so strong that major developers including Sunland Group have moved away from high-density projects to cater towards the lucrative market.
