GOLD Coast clubs and pubs reliant on pokie machines for survival are uniting in their fight against a second casino coming to the city.
People are being directed to a petition started in opposition — www.stop2ndcasino.com — via a giant billboard promoting it in Miami.
The petition started by a member of Clubs Queensland based at Main Beach has so far attracted 2000 signatures.

Clubs Queensland CEO Doug Flockhart has previously expressed fears a second casino in competition with Star Gold Coast would decimate trade for pubs, RSLs and surf club operations.
This week, highlighting the billboard, he said his organisation was overwhelmed by support from Gold Coasters backing their local clubs.
“We have at least 30 clubs on the Gold Coast that face closure if another casino is given the green light by the Palaszczuk Government.
“These are community clubs which give back to the local community. It's their funding that puts lifesaving equipment on our beaches and supports veterans, schools, and sports and community groups so much more.

“If this Labor Government continues to push for a second casino — which nobody wants, the research tells us that — it will devastate local trade for pubs, clubs and the existing casino.”
The State Government is considering testing the market for another casino resort on the Gold Coast.
In yesterday’s Bulletin, Star CEO Matt Bekier said a lack of clarity around the process was a “headache” creating uncertainty for investors in Star’s $2b Broadbeach masterplan.
