CANDIDATES for the marginal Gold Coast seat of Bonney in October faced off in an election forum hosted by the Gold Coast Bulletin.
The big question now is, months on, what has changed?
Incumbent MP Sam O’Connor of the LNP, Labor’s Ash Borg and Clive Palmer’s United Australia Party candidate David Bark debated the key issues facing the northern Gold Coast electorate.
Mr O’Connor claimed Bonney with a 2.2 per cent margin in 2017, making it a key seat come the October 31 polling day. He would go on to retain the seat.
The LNP MP at the time pledged more than $40 million to upgrade roads, parks and schools across Parkwood, Arundel, Coombabah and Labrador.
Mr Borg was announced as Labor’s Bonney candidate in late August. He claimed Mr O’Connor has been an “ineffective representative”.
Clive Palmer’s United Australia Party candidate David Bark also took part in the debate, however Greens candidate Amin Javanmard declined to attend, citing work at his Biggera Waters pharmacy as his reason.
