A Gold Coast mum is excited to be celebrating her first Christmas with her little girl – who has just been named the city’s cutest baby.
Jessica Melling said she believed Gold Coast Bulletin readers voted for her daughter Hazel because of her winning personality.
“She is our first baby and is everything we could have ever dreamt of,” she said.
“Hazel is the perfect blend of her dad and I.”
Ms Melling said they couldn’t wait to experience their first Christmas as a family of three.
“This year I have gone overboard with the pink Christmas decorations,” she said.
“She loves to sit in front of the tree and play with all the pink.”
Ms Melling said she had a “fantastic” pregnancy despite needing to have an elected C-section because the baby was breached.
“When they passed her over the curtain I said ‘Hi my girl, it’s me, your mummy’,” she said.
“My husband Tom was fantastic during her birth and after.”
Ms Melling said she was shocked how quickly Hazel learnt new things.
“She is very busy and alert,” she said.
“She started laughing at only a few weeks old.
“She also loves our dog, Connie, more than any other toy she has.”
Tommy Johnstone, nine months, was voted runner-up in the Gold Coast’s cutest baby with 21 per cent of the votes.
KASHANI ZIMMERMANN NAMED AS FINALIST
Ten-month-old Kashani Zimmermann has been named as a finalist for the Gold Coast’s cutest baby and her family thinks it’s because of her “big, cheesy smile”.
Kashani’s grandma Lisa Zimmermann said she was “loving” life with her first grandchild.
“She is always smiling and full of character,” she said.
“It’s so nice to see them grow and develop so quickly.
“It’s also nice to see your own kids enjoy parenthood.”
Ms Zimmermann said Kashani loved watching and dancing to Brisbane-based show Bluey.
“She has a big, cheesy smile and a cute little giggle,” she said.
“She is a little bit cheeky, like her dad.”
Ms Zimmermann said the family dressed Kashani in a pumpkin costume for Halloween.
“It suited her to a tee because she is just the cutest little pumpkin.”
Voting for the Gold Coast’s cutest baby closes on Friday at 9am.
EVERLEIGH ROSE BELLCHAMBERS NAMED AS FINALIST
This three month old girl, who has “the most contagious little giggle”, has been named as finalist for the Gold Coast’s cutest baby.
Everleigh Rose Bellchambers was nominated multiple times for the Bulletin’s cutest baby competition.
Her mum Faith Rose said it was because of her “cute smile” and “heart full of love”.
“Our beautiful smiley baby girl is an absolute bundle of joy,” she said.
“She has the most contagious little giggle when you tickle her tummy and cutest smile whenever you talk to her.
“She’s so curious and definitely has a heart full of love for everyone and everything.”
Ms Rose said she was “counting down the days” until she could meet her first born Everleigh.
“Pregnancy was a mix of excitement and anticipation,” she said.
“She has been everything I could’ve hoped for and I’m absolutely in love.
“Watching her grow and learn new things everyday is an absolute joy and we are so blessed that she chose us to be her parents.”
Ms Rose said she was soaking up every minute with Everleigh at that age.
“Parenthood is truly a beautiful journey and everyone was right when they said time flies,” she said.
“It’s both exciting and bittersweet to see how fast they grow and learn.”
ZOEY ALLEN NAMED AS FINALIST
A Gold Coast mum who powered through a “rough pregnancy” and a 48-hour birth says her bundle of joy was worth the pain.
Three-month-old Zoey Allen was recently announced as a finalist for the cutest baby on the Gold Coast.
Zoey’s mum, Amanda Helena said they celebrated her 100-days-old by dressing her up as a 100-year-old lady.
“She is the happiest baby and everything makes her smile,” Ms Helena said.
“She loves to poke her tongue out and has a cheeky personality.”
Ms Helena said her pregnancy and labour was “very long and exhausting”.
“We were sent home from the hospital as I hadn’t progressed enough and returned in the afternoon when my waters broke,” she said.
“There was no birth suites available so it was a very long wait to being active management.
“My labour was still not progressing and intervention was required and my natural birth plan went out the window.
“I felt so relieved after the epidural.”
Ms Helena said she ended up needing an assisted delivery with forceps because she had “no energy left”.
“It was all worth it to meet our beautiful baby girl.”
