TO open or not open this weekend — that is the question on the lips of hospitality heads everywhere.
Paradise Point eatery Cafe 7 was weighing up whether it would worth the effort opening up to serve just 10 dine-in customers, as per new hospitality restrictions.
Manager Lauren McCarthy knew what the locals would think if she didn’t.
“To be honest we were considering not doing it, but the backlash would have been more severe if we didn’t,” she said.

“To be honest we were considering not doing it, but we’ve got such a local community and a lot of regulars were asking when are we going to be opening.
“We’re going to have five tables outside, for 1.5 hours sittings, and they’re going to be monitored by one person.”
Cafe 7 is expecting a rush of people come Saturday with the cafe sticking to its no bookings policy.
“We don’t take bookings — it’s first in best dressed,” Ms McCarthy said.
“We’re just trying to create some sort of atmosphere for our regulars to have some sort of brekkie.
“We cant really go to full on just yet until the restrictions come on further. We still have the takeaway menu but the dine-in menu we’re still finalising.”
Cafe 7 is open from 6am daily.
