Police have tasered a man on the Gold Coast after he rushed at an officer in what was described as a “full on attack”.

They were called to Christine Ave, Varsity Lakes about 6.45pm Sunday following reports from residents about a disturbance.

Superintendent Geoff Sheldon said police were told a man was “running around in the units, jumping from balcony to balcony”.

During the search, a 27-year-old man “raced out and rushed at an officer”, he said.

“The officer was able to quickly draw his taser and get a shot away,” Supt Sheldon said.

“He was able to control the person and he was taken into custody.

“It was a complete surprise – full on attack, racing at the officer.”

The 27-year-old man was not armed and was expected to face charges.
