Schoolies slammed over ‘foul’ act

A 21-year-old Tesla driver will face court later this month after she allegedly blew almost five times the legal limit in Surfers Paradise.

Emergency services rushed to the intersection of Admiralty Drive and the Gold Coast Hwy at about 10pm on Sunday after reports of a two-car crash involving a Tesla and Kia Cerato.

A police spokesman said the 21-year-old female driver of the Tesla returned a positive roadside breath test of 0.225.

With an open driver’s licence, the legal limit in Australia is 0.05 for blood alcohol concentration.

She was charged with drink-driving and driving without due care, to face the Southport Magistrates Court on June 28.

Her licence was immediately suspended.

The driver of the Kia was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital with minor injuries, a Queensland Ambulance spokeswoman said.
