A family has had a lucky escape after a car came dangerously close to slamming into diners at cafe at a Gold Coast shopping centre this morning.
The small hatchback collided with bollards at speed outside of the Nerang Fair Carvery & Cafe on Beaudesert-Nerang Rd just before midday.
The bollards stopped the vehicle from ploughing into tables and chairs, narrowly missing a family with a young child.

CCTV footage shows just how close the accident came to seriously injuring diners.
A woman grabbed the little girl and pulled her to the ground as the car smashed into the heavy bollards just centimetres from where they were sitting.
The driver, a woman in her 70s, was treated by paramedics but was not seriously injured.
A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said the woman was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital as a precaution.
Police said it is too early to know exactly what caused the accident.
