Gold Coast singer who ‘tattooed’ Harry Styles on her cheek reveals her ‘little secret’ about what really happened

A Gold Coast singer who shocked the world by getting a tattoo of Harry Styles has finally spilled the beans about what really went on, saying it’s time to ‘let the world in’ on her ‘little secret’.

How do tattoos work?

THE Gold Coast girl who “tattooed” Harry Styles on her cheek has revealed it was a fake.

Kelsy Karter posted a video on YouTube titled “How I rocked the entire world for $300” which showed the tattoo was part of an elaborate plan to make her new song “Harry” a hit.

“It is time to let the world in on our secret…the tattoo was not real,” she wrote in the video.

The former Merrimac High School student said she “cut through the noise to get noticed” by employing a special FX makeup artist to paint the pop star “tattoo” on her face.

Jane Allen of Styledge Image Consulting said the tattoo had shock value, but wasn’t the best way to make sales.

“Revealing the tattoo is fake shows fans she’s not the real deal,” she said.

“I would not recommend what she did, there are much more glamorous ways to get your name out there.”

After posting the now infamous photo of Styles “tattooed” on her cheek, Kelsy said her “plan worked…that photo was EVERYWHERE”.

“Every major publication in the world covered the story and more importantly the song, I had your attention,” she wrote followed by a winking face emoji.

“The tattoo is gone and all that’s left is the music which is what I had planned all along.”

In a post to Instagram this morning, Kelsy calls the fake tattoo “my super bowl ad for rock n roll”.

Her single “Harry” has over half a million views on YouTube.
