A UNIQUE art installation has already claimed its first victim — with Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate taking an epic tumble while testing the new attraction.
Mayor Tate was invited to try running across the 180 inflatable bouncy balls embedded on Burleigh Beach this morning.

But not all went to plan when he lost his footing and fell, three-quarters of the way through.
“I was out of breath at the end as you really have to concentrate when bouncing along but if there’s fun to be had, I’m up for anything,” he told the Bulletin.
“I’d like to say I was bruised after the two falls but that sand is very forgiving.’’
Mayor Tate was still in good spirits afterwards despite the bruised ego.
“I loved it although I doubt I’ll get a call-up for the Aussie gymnastic team for Tokyo 2020,” he said.

The enthusiastic mayor is known for his adventurous streak, previously skydiving out of a plane to launch the World Parachute Championships last year.
The Tectonic installation, by performance artists Dancenorth opens to the public tonight as part of Bleach* Festival 2019.
The experts will show off how it should be done with free acrobatic performances at 6.30pm and 7.30pm until Sunday.
For those brave enough to try it themselves, workshops will be held between Thursday and Sunday from 9am-10am each day while a freestyle jumping session will be offered on Monday between 10am-4pm.
