GOLD COAST Mayor Tom Tate is considering banning the dreary ribbon cutting ceremonies and replace them with skydiving after jumping out of a plane today.
The parachuting stunt (literally) was to launch the World Parachute Championships which will be hosted on the Gold Coast from October 6 to 13.
It wasn’t the first time Cr Tate has skydived after falling through the air with the Crown Prince of Dubai about five years ago.
“Anyone who wants to wake up and get a bit of adrenaline going in a safe way I would recommend skydiving,” he said.
“It is another moment I will remember for the rest of my life.
“I may even ban ribbon cutting from now on and make it a rule that everything has to be launched with a sky dive.’’
