Firefighters responding to calls of a rubbish bin that has gone up in flames outside a home

A women has been injured and firefighters are working to extinguish a rubbish bin that is ablaze dangerously close to a Gold Coast home.

A women has been injured and firefighters are working to extinguish a rubbish bin that is ablaze dangerously close to a Gold Coast home.

Emergency services received the triple-0 call to a property at Chevron Rise, Highland Park at 7am on Thursday.

Thick smoke and flames were initially reported coming from the pile of waste on a driveway outside the home.

Paramedics have treated a women at the scene with a laceration to her foot. She is in a stable condition.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Service spokesman said residents had swung into action by the time two trucks arrived and had managed to contain some of the fire.

A crew remains at the address cooling the blaze.

It’s unclear what sparked the fire with investigations now underway.
