Two men have been charged with serious police assaults after a “confronting” morning call-out hospitalised a female police officer who fought violently with a man she had tasered.

Police had received reports of two men sleeping inside a damaged black Lexus on Greenacre Drive in Parkwood about 5.35am Wednesday.

It is alleged one of the men in the vehicle became violent towards officers when they arrived at the scene, assaulting a female officer. She was taken to hospital with head injury and abrasions.

A shocking nearly four-minute video of the violent drama between a female officer and male occupant shows her repeatedly yelling at him to get out of the car before tasering him and then the male launching at her sparking a scuffle on the ground.

A male passenger allegedly fled the vehicle but was caught a short distance away.

Police allege firearms, ammunition, and other items used in property-related offences were found inside the Lexus.

Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday morning before charges were laid, Gold Coast acting Superintendent Scott Knowles said the driver’s side occupant of the Lexus appeared to have “reached for a firearm” as the female officer approached the vehicle.

In a video filmed by neighbours, the female officer can be heard yelling at the driver to “get out of the car”.

Footage shows her yelling: “Show me your hands,” “Get out of the car,” then “Get out of the f**king car”.

The driver’s side occupant then allegedly jumps out of the vehicle and attacks the officer, who tasered her alleged assailant during the struggle.

Supt Knowles said the man was allegedly “banging her head on the road” during their scuffle.

The officer was heard screaming on the video while grappling with him.

Both the female and male officers were transported from the scene to Pindara Hospital in stable conditions.

Supt Knowles said they did a “fantastic job”, but that it was “confronting” to see and there would be a review as to whether the officers could have handled it better.

“Our police officers are well equipped and very well trained,” he said.

“This is what they do every day of the week.

“Unfortunately it tends to be a situation that’s starting to occur more and more given the drugs in the criminal environments at the moment.

“It’s something our officers need to be aware of. This shows they were just attending a job where there was two people sleeping in a vehicle and it’s resulted in this.

“It’s something every officer thinks about when they turn up to a job.”

Officers arrived at the scene seconds after the man fighting with the female officer had run off – but were able to arrest both car occupants.

Noah Christian Spells, 40, faces several charges including serious assault of a police officer causing grievous bodily harm, going armed so as to cause fear, unlawful possession of Category H weapon in public, and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

His co-accused Jason Robert White, 36, is charged with serious assault of a police officer, unlawful possession of Category H weapon in public, and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

It will be alleged Mr Spells had stolen a grey BMW from a business on Ferry Rd, Southport just before midday Tuesday.

Police say the car’s owner tracked it to Tugun and tried to approach, but the driver allegedly produced what appeared to be a gun and threatened them.

He allegedly fled the scene in the stolen car, which was tracked by Polair before being found abandoned in a Surfers Paradise carpark after 9pm that night.

Neither man appeared in person or applied for bail when their cases were mentioned in Southport Magistrates Court on Thursday.

Mr Spells’ defence lawyer Jason Grant said his client now had a “huge number of charges” and was under a return-to-prison warrant.

Both men were remanded in custody, with Mr Spells’ case to return to court on January 18 and Mr White’s on January 22.
