A crime scene was established at a property in Mudgeeraba following a large fire which destroyed the home.
Emergency services were called to the house on Robert Street about 2.30am. Firefighters arrived to find the house engulfed in flames.
The two occupants of the property had evacuated and were uninjured. Crews battled for several hours to extinguish the blaze.
Late on Tuesday afternoon Queensland Police Service confirmed officers had received a call out to the address at 11.30pm on Monday night.
A QPS spokesman said the attending police arrived after reports of a “disturbance” and spoke with the occupants. Police determined the scene was safe before leaving.
Residents in the street who spoke to the Bulletin said they recalled hearing the sound of shattered glass around 11pm. The residents confirmed a police car arrived about 30 minutes later and were seen talking with a man and woman.
It took firefighters over an hour to bring the main blaze under control with crews spending several hours trying to cool hotspots. The property, which is located next to a busy public walkway, is near Mudgeeraba’s popular Wallaby Hotel. A red hatchback parked in the driveway to the home has had it’s rear window smashed.

Specialist police arson investigators have spent much of Tuesday collecting and bagging evidence from what is left of the home and the resident’s belongings.
One section of the roof has collapsed from the heat. A rear wall to the property has also crumbled. The home has been deemed structurally unsafe, with no one allowed to enter it.
Officers cordoned off the street to traffic around lunchtime as a cherry-picker was called in to help officers take photos from above the scene.
