A WITNESS has told police of the horror of discovering the body of a Brisbane teen who fell to his death from a Gold Coast resort tower.
Detectives have taken statements from several people who were in the area of View Ave, Surfers Paradise, in the early hours of Saturday morning, including one person who heard a loud noise towards the side of the Pacific View building.
Upon closer inspection, they found the young man’s body and called police.
Paramedics who attended the scene worked frantically on the 19-year-old but were unable to revive him.
Meanwhile, teens as young as 15 were found slumped unconscious at the drug-fueled party in the building.
Emergency service responders found drug paraphernalia and a large quantity of diazepam, or Valium, in a hotel room along with six teens in various states of consciousness, just after the body of the young man was found on the street below.
Four teens from the room were taken to Robina Hospital in a stable condition.
Police have set up a crime scene and are still trying to piece together the circumstances surrounding the death of the young man.
“Investigations are underway to determine the cause and what may have taken place in the lead-up,” police said in a statement.
Police have confirmed that two 16-year-olds, believed to be from the same group, were arrested for the unauthorised possession of prescription medication less than an hour before the discovery of the 19-year-old’s body.
Following the incident, Paramedics were later called to the Southport Watchhouse to treat the two teens in custody, after they started exhibiting symptoms of drug-affected behaviour.
They did not require transport to hospital.
