Gold Coast crime: Kara Wade and Gavin Bourke face court for allegedly stealing truck in cross-border pursuit
A young woman arrested after a wild cross-border police pursuit involving an allegedly stolen truck has been freed on bail. This is how the alleged crime spree unfolded.

A 19-YEAR-OLD woman arrested after a wild cross-border police pursuit involving an allegedly stolen truck has been freed on bail and ordered to seek help for her ice addiction.
Police allege about 10.45pm on Friday night Gavin Bourke, 36, from Elanora drove a stolen and unregistered truck with Kara Wade, 19, from Pimpama as a passenger.
When leaving with the truck at Wyndham Circuit, Holmview, it is alleged Mr Bourke rammed into a parked car so hard it pushed it two metres into a tree.
The truck then drove on to the M1 near Yatala and began to head south. Polair began to chase the pair when they reached the Coomera area.

Tyre deflation devices, which were set up near the road works on the M1 at Mudgeeraba busted both front tyres, but it didn’t stop the truck. NSW police also joined in on the pursuit after the truck crossed the border.
With two flat tyres, the truck continued driving down to Coolangatta, before travelling north on the Gold Coast Highway.
It will be further alleged, just before midnight the truck stopped near Farrell Dr where the pair approached a Tarago which was stopped on the highway due to the driving manner of the truck.

The man threatened the driver with a nail gun, but the driver drove off, and Wade was arrested by police at the scene. The man had returned to the truck and continued north. Shortly after, the man drove the truck north in the southbound lanes along the Gold Coast Hwy at Palm Beach.
It is alleged he then stopped and approached a driver of a Mazda 3 and demanded his car, but the driver drove off. The man returned to the truck and continued north along the Gold Coast Hwy, before coming to a stop on Eighth Ave at Palm Beach.
Police arrested the driver at 12.02am.
It will be further alleged the White Mitsubishi Fuso truck was stolen from a shopping centre on Cayuga St at Nerang around 3.45pm on Tuesday, April 16.
Magistrate Clare Kelly granted Wade bail on condition she seeks a mental health plan, reports twice-weekly to police, obeys a 10pm-6am curfew and have no contact with Bourke. Wade pleaded guilty and was fined $150 for a failing to appear charge. Her other charges were adjourned until April 30.
Bourke was charged with two counts of dangerous operation of a vehicle and attempted robbery, one count each of unlawful use of motor vehicle, driving while a relevant drug is present in blood, disqualified driving, stealing, possession of tainted property and assault police.
Bourke did not appear in court on Saturday and his charges were adjourned until April 30.
