FORMER Gold Coast bikie enforcer Jacques Teamo will be released from prison today after successfully applying for bail in the Southport Magistrates Court.

The ex-Bandidos kingpin was granted bail in relation to an alleged assault at Pacific Fair last month.

Teamo was charged with assault occasioning bodily harm, wilful damage in relation to the confrontation and two drug charges following a police search of his home.

The court heard Teamo told Matthew Smith “I should stab you c***” and damaged a $170,000 Mercedes during the alleged assault at Pacific Fair.

Mr Hannay said the dispute was over the recovery of property after “Mr Smith thought he would help himself to Mr Teamo’s house” while his client was in custody.

Police allege Teamo was armed with a knife during the assault because he told police “I should have ripped into him at Pacific Fair”.

Magistrate Don MacKenzie granted Teamo bail to his girlfriend’s Regents Park address on the condition he not approach Mr Smith or any prosecution witnesses, among other conditions.

“I’m sure you’re aware anything you’re likely to do will be under scrutiny,” Magistrate MacKenzie said.

Teamo appeared via video link from Arthur Gorrie Correctional Centre with a bandaged right hand.

It comes two weeks after the Bulletin revealed Teamo had been hospitalised after being savagely bashed by Mongol bikies with pieces of furniture and a toaster in the prison.

Chris Hannay, of Hannay Lawyers, told the court putting Teamo in a unit with Mongol bikies and furniture unsecured to the ground was “in the expectation of a Jeff Horn-style fight”.

The matter today was not the first time Teamo has run into strife at a Gold Coast shopping centre.

In 2012, Teamo was shot by Mongols bikie Mark James Graham at Robina Town Centre.

During a confrontation, Graham pulled out a gun and shot Teamo as he ran away.

Innocent shopper Kathy Devitt was also shot.

Graham was jailed for 12 years and three months in prison.

Less than two years later, Teamo was expelled from the Bandidos, with club members reportedly ordered to “shoot on sight”.

Senior Bandidos were reportedly “livid” over Teamo’s involvement in the Robina Town Centre shooting and his alleged role in a Broadbeach brawl.

Following the revelations in 2014, police swooped on the exiled bikie’s home to ensure his safety and federal gang squad police also reportedly visited several other bikies, or former gang members, quizzing them about the death threats.

Teamo’s girlfriend was emotional and in tears of joy at his release on bail today.
