A FAILURE to keep the property up to scratch was one of the reasons the Gold Coast Council’s moved to close a well known Coolangatta sports club, it has been revealed.
As published in the Bulletin yesterday, the managers of the Kirra Sports Club were issued with a termination of lease notice earlier this month following a number of breaches.

The tenants were given just two weeks to vacate the property.
Council has since confirmed breaches included a failure to provide required information and “keep the leased premises in a suitable state of repair.”
WHEN NEW NIGHTCLUB WILL FINALLY OPEN
The club still had another four years left on their lease with the council which was set to expire in June 2024.
A source close to the club said management had some difficulties with submitting its required paperwork to council due to the forced coronavirus closures.

The Bulletin understands the current managers have since been able to secure an extended leaving date as of Tuesday.
They will instead vacate the premises at the end of the month.
The liquor licence on the premises remains valid and is held by the Twin Towns Community Recreation Complex Limited.
