THE team behind some of the Gold Coast’s most popular bakeries has announced a new project is in the works for Tallebudgera Creek — and it sounds delicious.
Social media is currently in a frenzy over Custard Canteen as owners Ben and Ursula Watts, the same couple behind Mermaid Beach’s Bam Bam Bakehouse and Chinderah’s Cubby Bakehouse, tease footage of the new shop being renovated.

“What we’re trying to do this time around is expose a little bit more behind the scenes, the detail and effort and arguments that goes into making magic,” Ms Watts said.
“One of the biggest questions we get is ‘how do you do it (build a hospitality business)? What’s the story?’, so we’re trying to share that story as openly and best we can.”
The new venture, described as a pastry cafe and attached to Tallebudgera Leisure Centre, will offer takeaway treats and sweets with a strong theme of a certain tasty yellow milk product.

“It is a small space, all the internal space is kitchen. There will be some dine in options available but being where it is by Talle Creek, we’re trying to gear the menu towards a takeaway friendly place,” Ms Watts said.
Custard Canteen is expected to open in December.
