It might have taken 83,442 little plastic blocks and a total of 213 hours to build, but the Gold Coast is now home to Australia’s largest Star Wars LEGO model – at least until the end of the year.

After spending 210 hours putting together large sections of the LEGO X-Wing Rebel Alliance Starfighter, Brickman Master Builder Mark Curnow completed the job at the Dreamworld LEGO store yesterday in a three-hour operation joining those sections into a ship Luke Skywalker would be proud to pilot.

Visitors had the opportunity to make their own lego X-Wings to take home, although these were much, much smaller than the main attraction.

The X-Wing model on display in the Dreamworld store is about two metres by three metres in size.

Just like the starfighter in the Star Wars movie franchise, the LEGO version features four laser cannons and two proton torpedo launchers.

It was initially displayed in Sydney as part of a LEGO event.
