“She was daring, she was brave, she spoke with conviction and she was unproblematic,” a family friend said.

How to deal with grief and the loss of a loved one

A mother has been killed in a horrific car crash on her way to a wedding in regional NSW, hours after announcing she was expecting her third child.

At 2pm Friday, Shellymaine Ah Foon, 32, was with her partner Troy and two young daughters on their way to the wedding of one of their family friends

Tragically, their SUV crashed in Aarons Pass near Mudgee, leaving Shellymaine with critical injuries.

The 32yo was transported to Mudgee Hospital but soon passed away from her injuries.

Her partner Troy was flown to Westmead Hospital to undergo surgery after suffering several fractures to both limbs on his left side, requiring a plate in his leg.

Their two daughters, aged six and two, were also injured in the crash and taken to the same hospital as their father, the 6yo suffering fractured collarbones and "issues with her eye."

Devastatingly, a family friend confirmed to 7News that Shellymaine had just learned she was pregnant with her third child, revealing the happy news only hours before the deadly crash.

“We spoke to Shelly on the Thursday night, and she told us she was pregnant,” they said.

She was supposed to attend an ultrasound the following Monday to learn how far long in the pregnancy she was, the friend said.

NSW mum’s death “really impacted a whole community of people”

Shellymaine is remembered as being an immensely devoted mother, who was “unapologetically herself.”

“She was daring, she was brave, she spoke with conviction and she was unproblematic,” a family friend said in a GoFundMe campaign.

“She enjoyed the simple things in life and lived by her own rulebook.”

Others called the NSW mum a “social butterfly” who could “strike up a conversation with anyone.”

“Her death has really impacted a whole community of people,” they said.

Shellymaine’s love for her daughter was exceptional, the family friend added, noting how hard it will be for the two girls to be without their “Mummy.”

“She was the light of Troy and her girls’ lives,” they said.

“Their world has changed forever and the love their Mum gave them will never be replicated ever again.”
