UNIVERSITY of NSW anti-ageing expert Dr Ross Grant believes the complex interactions of chemicals in whole foods as well as exercise is the key to fighting ageing.

He has developed a smoothie he says helps fight cell damage that contributes to ageing and it’s also anti-inflammatory.

The fruit smoothie contains vitamin C, energy in the form of mostly complex carbohydrates, high fibre (to maintain gut microbiota) and reasonable protein levels.

Personal trainer Sally Sukkar believes nutrition counts for 70 per cent of a person’s health and fitness and she grows her own vegetables and tries to cook her own food.

The 35 year old who works at Plus Fitness in Alexandria in Sydney says she’s never heard of Sea Buckthorn, one of the key ingredients in the shake but found it very tasty.

“My daily energy expenditure is 20,000 steps a day, I exercise at least 20-50 minutes doing strength training as well as high intensity cardio,” she says.

While she wants to maximise her lifespan she says she’s not sure she wants to live to 150.

“I’d want to make sure everyone around me lives to 150, I don’t want to be the only one here,” she said.

Kat Henderson is training to be a personal trainer and says she’s always wanted to live to 120.

“Life is too short but it doesn’t have to be if you look after yourself,” she said.

The 20 year old says she’s on the Keto diet which is high fat and no carbohydrate and she loves boxing and weightlifting.

The shake had a nice texture and felt like it was benefiting her body, she said.

“We were never meant to use chemicals, we were meant to fill our body with whole foods to live longer and feel better,” she said.
