Gold Coast Eisteddfod 2019: 66,000 Gold Coast performers wowing the judges
More than 66,000 young performers will take to the stage for this year’s Gold Coast Eisteddfod - and so far the judges have been amazed.

MORE than 66,000 young performers will feature in the Gold Coast Eistedfodd this year as it begins its dance section this week.
The annual competition has already completed its choral, piano, vocal and Strings Wind Brass sections throughout July.
Assistant General Manager Nicci Wilson said the talent this year had amazed judges.
“We had four days worth of choirs and the adjudicator was absolutely gobsmacked, he thought they could have all gone on the international stage,” she said.

“The bands have been record numbers. In the next few weeks at HOTA it’s going to be full on for adjudicators because we had so many entries.”
The eisteddfod, now in its 37th year, sees performers travel from as far away as Singapore to compete.
There are 574 sections spread over Home of the Arts, and Albert Waterways Community Centre in Broadbeach Waters.
Academy Dance Studios Studio Director Lara Green will this year see 50 of her young students take to the stage.
“Everyone always says the Gold Coast is one of their favourite eisteddfod’s because it’s local,” she said.

“It’s good training for their futures. Even the ones who don’t want to become professional dancers it’s a great experience.
“It’s really valuable to them.”
