In September, the Bulletin reported Black Angus had closed its doors less than two years after it relocated to Surfers Paradise, taking over the space occupied by Hooters.

It was previously located in Sanctuary Cove.

The reason for the closure was unclear – although the entire Surfers area has been devastated by a downturn in tourism due to Covid-19 restrictions.

Shiraz Persian Restaurant and Bar took over the former Black Angus site at 2893 Gold Coast Highway in October.

A new restaurant and bar is expected to take over the former site of a popular Gold Coast steakhouse.

Black Angus Bar and Grill shut less than two years after it relocated to Surfers Paradise, taking over the space occupied by risque “breastaurant’’ Hooters.

A “leased” sign has now appeared in front of the site on the Gold Coast Hwy.

Retail Direct Property Group is handling the lease of the Surfers Paradise site.

“Details about the award-winning restaurant and bar opening soon will all be revealed soon. Stay tuned,” the group said.

The reason for the Black Angus closure remains unclear – although the area has been devastated by a downturn in tourism due to Covid-19 restrictions.

The Bulletin has attempted to contact owner Joffrey Hagop for comment.

The restaurant closed its Sanctuary Cove venue on Australia Day last year and moved to its Surfers Paradise site shortly after.

“It’s a family-owned business. We want to really challenge ourselves and find new horizons for the business,” Mr Hagop told the Bulletin last year.

“Being situated on the Gold Coast Hwy gives us a lot of advantages in positioning ourselves and becoming more convenient.

“I wanted something more prominent, in a busy district. Hence we are heading south to Surfers Paradise, a more touristy, more busy area.”
