The largest and most expensive penthouse to grace the Gold Coast market is about to start construction on Chevron Island at Surfers Paradise.

The two-storey, 1720sq m crowning jewel atop the 41-level Chevron One Residences tower has been valued at $22m.

It is just one of the 36 Daylight Sky Homes within the tower from level 31 upwards that have just hit the market, with prices starting at $15m for the sub-penthouse.

But those hoping to be the owner of the luxury abode will be sorely disappointed to find it has already been secured by Elias Jreissati, the chairman of the building’s developer, Bensons Property Group.

The property features five bedrooms and four bathrooms surrounded by panoramic 360 degree views of the Gold Coast. Not only does it offer four sitting rooms, but also a high level of amenity including a private outdoor pool, theatre room, a gym and eight car parks.

Given the speed of the booming south east Queensland market, the revised value of the property once it is completed in three years’ time is expected to reach $30m. Mr Jreissati has also secured several other properties in the building’s top levels for his family.

The decision to put the light-filled residences on the market was brought forward to meet buyer demand in the high end, with demand only increasing from the lockdown southern capitals in recent months, said Benson’s general manager of sales and marketing, Andrew Crichton

“We had always planned to release the Sky Homes at a later stage but demand for ultra-luxe, large penthouses has risen,” Mr Crichton said.

“Previously, we didn’t have demand for the product but we now have people who are moving up here from down south so we decided to release them.”

Some changes were made to the original designs and layouts penned ahead of the 2018 launch of the project to make apartments more compatible with what buyers are looking for today in the current market. Some of these changes include combining several individual dwellings to make one larger property with more bedrooms and living spaces

Global architecture practice Marchese Partners have ensured a strong integration between indoor/ outdoor living across each of the generously over-scaled spaces to allow for an al fresco lifestyle all year round. With this in mind, large balconies will allow residents to enjoy both the winter sunshine and enjoy summer breezes and not only bring them closer to the spectacular views, but also the surrounding sights and sounds.

The finishes include Calacatta marble, natural Silestone and bespoke timber joinery within an exclusive Chevron Island address

More than half of the tower is already sold ahead of it starting construction in the last quarter of the year. Chevron One is set to be one of the tallest towers on the Coast once it is completed in 2024. Managing director of Bensons Property Group, Rick Curtis, believes it will be a hard property to miss.

“With the project about to start construction, this sculptural object will maximise the well positioned site and spectacular water views,” Mr Curtis said.

The design of Chevron One Residences has captured the character of the Gold Coast and will soon become a true icon.”

The combined Gold Coast and Brisbane property markets have reported price rises of 19.8 per cent over the year to August, according to CoreLogic.
