Get a little romantic with yourself or someone else for World Chocolate Day and order a box of Little Cocoa’s praline sweets. The Gold Coast chocolateria produces luxurious Belgian-style treats made to order in sophisticated flavours. “Our 12-piece box flavours are a salted caramel, a dark chocolate ganache, raspberry jam and white chocolate, a blackcurrant gelle with a ganache, and then last one is a milk hazelnut,” Little Cocoa owner Alicia Chapman says. “People seem to notice the smell when they take the lid off — it’s a really nice chocolate smell.” With fresh ingredients in the inner ganache, Alicia says they’re meant to be enjoyed ASAP — like we needed an excuse anyway. “They aren’t filled with preservatives, I make them fresh to order, I want them to be consumed while they’re in really good condition.”

Mamasan, Broadbeach

Mamasan’s indulgent treat is a chocolate brownie to defeat all chocolate brownies. Rich, gooey and decadent, it’s remained its signature dessert option on the menu since the Asian fusion restaurant opened four years ago. It starts with a traditional chocolate brownie and comes topped with caramelised condensed milk, ice cream, a salted caramel fortune cookie, chocolate and candle nut soil. It’s incredible more-ish and it’s totally acceptable to order before dinner, or just on its own.

Sometimes munching down on chocolate is a little too much effort, so thank god drinking it is a celebrated method of consumption. Oh My, Waffle’s hot chocolates are legendary and the dessert shop has recently included two new editions to the line-up — What The Choc and The White Walker. What The Choc is a Ferrero Rocher-inspired hot chocolate with a crushed hazelnut and chocolate rim. The White Walker features coconut and white chocolate drinking cocoa topped with whipped cream and toasted coconut. There’s still the OG hot chocolates its customers know and love — a campfire s’mores flavour, let’s get chocolate wasted with Nutella and Oreos, and red velvet hot chocolate with cake batter.
